Chicago - Michigan Avenue Condo #1

This Chicago condo is the secondary home of a longtime Kansas City client and is located on the 53rd floor of a Michigan Avenue high rise. Situated right in the heart of the "Magnificent Mile", the sweeping views of both downtown and Lake Michigan provide a breathtaking backdrop for an elegant and sophisticated retreat.

Living Room (View 1) - The antique English secretary demands attention in this view of the Living Room, and is filled with found objects. A leopard print ottoman sits in front of the mirror and lacquer fireplace. Jim Thompson silk balloons, and Conrad grass shades provide a backdrop for one of a pair of large antique chinese carved horses.

Living Room (View 2) - Textured walls, chenille clad upholstery and patterned carpet, all in a rich caramel color anchor the room. English and Asian antiques, furniture and accessories are carefully placed around the mirrored fireplace. An Antique bronze Buddha keeps watch from behind the sofa, while the entry's domed ceiling and horizontal stripes make an impressive statement.

Living Room Vignette - A John Boone slatted screen separates this vignette from the foyer. A generous chair clad in soft chenille sits near this corner with an antique tapestry pillow. The 19th century oil paintings are flanked by bronze lamps that sit on an antique chinese demi-lune console table.

Dining Room - The dining area features a custom Bausman ebony table and is surrounded by oval back chairs upholstered in a blue cut velvet. A chinese pagoda lantern serves as chandelier. A framed antique chinese robe finds the perfect home above the sideboard, another Asian antique. A Soumak rug from Stark anchors the space.

Powder Room - A Brunschwig and Fils paper is the backdrop for this Powder Room. An antique chinese chest serves as a vanity, and is topped with black granite and a nickel plated sink and faucet. The faux bamboo mirror is flanked by iron sconces.

Breakfast Room - Distressed black wicker chairs surround a table skirted in an exotic blue linen ethnic print. The bordered sisal area rug defines the space. Osborne and Little bamboo wallcovering serves as an interesting backdrop for the homeowner's folk art dolls and fruit painting. An antique horse fragment sits atop the Patina iron console table. The black shoji panel doors slide open to connect to the Media Room.

Media Room - A stylized plaid area rug and crackled chinese red walls envelop this room. Four chairs upholstered in a chenille paisley striped tapestry face the entertainment center. Antique and other unique objects fill the niches and tabletops.

Master Bedroom - The Patina custom 4-poster bed w/palm finials is the central feature of this Master Bedroom. It is flanked by 2 convex star mirrors that reflect the view of downtown Chicago from the windows on opposite wall. The black/gold chinoisserie cabinet is antique.

Master Bathroom - Her bath echos the Master Bedroom with its sage greens and terra cottas in an elegant Clarence House teapaper wallcovering. The mocha marble floors and countertops anchor the rich palette.
