Arkansas Residence

Below you will find photos from a remodel in Arkansas. The house was only 15 years old but was due for a major interior overhaul. The following photographs portray Karen's unique ability to create large scale interiors, but still deliver an air of comfort.

Foyer - A large antique trunk from Sri Lanka is topped by an ancient Indian window done as a mirror. On the chest is a five-foot high African antelope headdress. The floor is tiled black granite with a zebra skin rug.

Living Room (1 of 2) - An angled view of the 60 ft living room illustrates the height of the Texas limestone walls and timbered ceiling. The black and camel carpet anchors the chamois chenille sofas and black needlepoint slipper chairs. The six-foot mask over the fireplace hails from Africa. The column to the right is one of a pair of ancient Afgani religious totems.

Living Room (2 of 2) - Another view of the living room shows a seven-foot mirror encased in a wood 'bambo' tortoise frame. Accessories include a carved antique horse drapped with coral and amber beads.

Kitchen - Karen designed every inch of the custom built newly remodeld kitchen. The cabinets and floor are maple, counter tops are black granite. The antique oriental runner adds character and warmth to the room.

Dining Room - The dining room walls were frescoed over wet plaster to harmonize with the Texas limestone columns. The ten-foot diamter iron based table was custom designed. The three treasures of the room are a set of twelve antique original needlepoint French chairs, a French coffer, and a kneeling antique Tibetan monk.

The Pavillion - The pavillion was added on at the time of the remodel. The Texas limestone echoes the interior of the home and the floor is stained concrete. At the far end (not shown) is a large bar and kitchen area. The fire pit allows for almost year round entertaining. To the left (also not shown) is a lap pool and hot tub.
